Was Guy Fawkes right? -
We submit that Guy Fawkes was fighting for freedom of expression for a group that was allowed no such right. In this case, freedom of religious expression for Catholic citizens which was repressed under pain of death by the Protestant King, James I. In 1605 Fawkes and his co-conspirators would hatch a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament along with it's Members and the King of England himself. They failed. But these events should serve as a stark reminder that the right to hold differing, maybe even opposing views from one another without fear of suffering severe repercussions, is paramount to civilised society, lest we fall into dystopia.
